Holy Family Holds Strong in Latest Top 25 Poll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (February 5, 2013) - After extended their winning streak to seven games with a pair of conference victories this past week, the Tigers held strong, keeping their eighth-place ranking in the latest USA Today Division II women's basketball ranking released today.
The Tigers defeated Wilmington (80-56) on Tuesday and then capped the week with a 75-63 at Post on Saturday. Senior Erin Mann led the Tigers in scoring in both games as she averaged 23.0 points per game. During the current seven game winning-streak, Mann has led the Tigers in scoring in each victory. Furthermore, Mann was recently named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District 1 First Team for the first time in her career. In the victory at Wilmington, freshman Erin Fenningham scored a career-high eight points. Junior Mary Ellen McCollum scored a season-high 15 points in the win at Post.
The Tigers (19-2, 13-1) earned their sixth straight victory after defeating Wilmington on Tuesday. Holy Family also picked up an 86-53 victory at South Division rival Chestnut Hill last Wednesday and a 68-46 win against Bloomfield. Senior standout, Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa.) became the third player in Tiger program history to score at least 1,600 points and record 800 rebounds in a career.
