#1 Nationally Ranked Men's Soccer Soar Passed the University of Bridgeport in 6-1 Victory

BRIDGEPORT, CT (9/6/2023) -- The No. 1 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce men's soccer team took care of business at Knights Field in their first road game of the 2023 season, winning 6-1 against the University of Bridgeport.

Franklin Pierce improves to 2-0-0 on the season with the win, while Bridgeport falls to 0-2-1.

Franklin Pierce had multiple scoring chances in the first few minutes of the first half. The first goal of the match came in the 17th minute. Franklin Pierce forward Younes Addar Khanoussi (Castellon, Spain) scored his third goal of the season when he received a pass into the box by Rodrigo Parafita Bestilliero (A Coruna, Spain). Addar headed the ball over the head of Bridgeport goalkeeper Michalis Christodoulides. Franklin Pierce led 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Franklin Pierce scored five goals, with four coming in the match's final ten minutes. In the 55th minute, Addar scored his second goal of the match to give the Ravens a 2-0 lead. The initial shot came from Parafita, and his shot went off the post. Nobody defended Addar in front of the net as he settled the ball down and kicked it past Christodoulides. Bridgeport cut the Franklin Pierce lead in half in the 72nd minute when freshman midfielder Joao Miranda scored his first goal as a member of the Purple Knights on a free-kick opportunity. In the 81st minute, Caleb Williams (Attleboro, Massachusetts) picked up his first goal of the season to give Franklin Pierce a 3-1 lead. Four minutes later, Antonio Lampreia Lima (Lisbon, Portugal) scored his first career goal with the Ravens to make it 4-1. A minute and twelve seconds later, Sekou Kamara (North Providence, RI) sent the ball into the box, and Williams scored his second goal of the night to make it 5-1 Franklin Pierce. Lima capped things off by scoring his second goal of the match in the 87th minute to give the Ravens a 6-1 lead.

The Ravens outshot the Purple Knights 23-7. Sophomore goalkeeper Diego Montoya Casillas (Cuernavaca, Mexico) made four saves and picked up his second win of the season. Christodoulides made five saves for the Purple Knights in the loss.

Franklin Pierce heads to Lamoy Field in Waterbury, Connecticut, on Sunday, September 10, for a non-conference matchup against Post University at 2:30 p.m.
