MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - - Bentley had an answer for nearly every rally from the Wilmington University baseball team, resulting in a 10-7 loss on Sunday at Feinbloom Field on the campus of Barry University.

Every inning the Wildcats (7-5) scored, the Falcons (10-4) had an answer in their half of the inning, with the knockout blow coming in the bottom of the sixth when the Wildcats closed the gap to within a single run.

Tyler Bunting started the scoring with his first collegiate base hit and RBI in the top of the first but Bentley answered with a solo homer in the bottom half.

Nick Classie hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the second, which ended up being the only score the Falcons didn't directly answer. Alex Krick hit a two-out RBI double in the third to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead, but Bentley responded with a two-run single and a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to take a 6-3 lead.

Now trailing 7-3, Mason DeLuca hit a pinch hit, two-out, three-run homer to right, bringing the Wildcats to within a single run in the sixth inning. But the Wildcats couldn't find the shutdown inning, as Bentley answered with two runs to regain a 9-6 lead.

The Wildcats loaded the bases to start the seventh inning, but the only run they could get was on a double play, halting the rally but inching closer, 9-7. Bentley hit another homer in the bottom of the seventh though, regaining momentum and taking a 10-7 lead.

The Wildcats left a runner on first base in each the eighth and ninth innings as Bentley was able to shut the door on any comeback.

Justin Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored while Mason DeLuca homered, and Alex Krick doubled.

Matt Warrington was saddled with the loss but did punch out six batters in 2.2 innings.

The Wildcats begin an extensive homestand on Tuesday, as the next seven games will be played at Wilson Field. They start with Shippensburg on Tuesday in the team's home opener. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
