Women's Basketball: Ravens Crack Open 2023 Season with Win Over Holy Family

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (11/11/23) – The Franklin Pierce women's basketball team started their season with a bang in the Conference Challenge at the College of Staten Island, defeating Holy Family by double digits, 64-51.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Tigers came out of the gates firing with an early 7-2 run in the first quarter, but the Ravens punched back with an incredible 18-2 run to close out the first quarter. Anna Badosa(Girona, Spain) scored 5 points and Liv Murray (Salem, N.H.) chipped in with a three-pointer.  

  • The Ravens would be outscored in the 2nd half, 14-12, but still led 32-23 going into the half-time break.  

  • The Ravens would resume their dominance in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Tigers 16-7. Anna Badosa scored an impressive 10 points in the quarter to extend the Ravens lead. 

  • Janessa Gonzalez (Meriden, CT) drilled a three in the 4th quarter and added a pair of free throws as the Ravens hit cruise control to a 64-51 season opener victory. 

 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS: 

  • Anna Badosa led the way with a game-high 23 points, and chipped in with 5 rebounds, and 4 steals 

  • Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) was right behind Badosa with 16 points, and led the team in rebounds with 9, 1 shy of a double-double  

  • Gisela Vazquez Segura (Igualada, Spain) led the team with 4 assists   

NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: 

  • The Ravens will return to the court tomorrow Novemeber 12th to take on Bridgeport at 1:00 PM
