Purple Knights Back In Hubbell Gym On Wednesday Night Hosting Caldwell
Philadelphia, Pa.-The host Chestnut Hill College Griffins outscored the visiting University of Bridgeport men's basketball team, 13-7, in overtime to post an 87-81 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights are now 10-12 overall and 6-8 in conference play. CHC moves to 11-12 overall and 6-7 in the CACC.
Saturday's contest was a see-saw affair that saw a total of 14 lead changes and three ties on the afternoon. Chestnut Hill's biggest lead was an 11-point advantage midway through the first half, and Bridgeport's biggest advantage was a nine-point lead midway through the second half.
UB senior Ali Sumareh (Bronx, N.Y.) had a career day at Chestnut Hill finishing with an impressive double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds, which are both career highs. Sumareh connected on 14-of-18 shots from the floor on the day.
Classmate Mason Williams (Voorhees, N.J.) continued his strong play of late reaching double figures for the sixth straight contest, as he netted a season-high 21 points on Saturday
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will open a three-game homestand on Wednesday evening looking to get into the win column for the first time in four outings, when the Purple Knights host Caldwell University in a CACC doubleheader with the women's team. Start time for the men's game is slated for approximately 7:00 p.m.
