Hooksett, N.H.-It was a fast and furious finish on a soggy Wednesday afternoon in the Granite State, as both goals in the match were scored in the final eight minutes of play, as the visiting University of Bridgeport men's soccer team played the number 10 nationally-ranked Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University to a 1-1 tie. With the draw, the Purple Knights are now 1-2-2 on the season. SNHU remains unbeaten at 3-0-2.
Bridgeport got on the scoreboard first on Wednesday, as Alex Tan (Sr., Vichy, France) scored his third goal in the last two matches when he put home a rebound off a shot from Lucas Sousa (Jr., Campinas, Brazil) 7:46 to play in the match.
Unfortunately for UB fans, the host Penmen would come right back and tie the contest at 1-1 just 30 seconds later when Tyler Kraft scored off a rebound of a shot the hit the post.
Purple Knights' goalkeeper Hugo Franceschi (Fr., Toulouse, France) had a strong afternoon making seven saves, as the hosts out the visitors, 12-9, on the day. The Penmen also finished with a slight,, 4-3, edge in the corner kick department.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team returns to Knights Field on Saturday evening to open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play versus the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University. The match is slated to kickoff at 6:00 p.m. in the Park City.
