Women's Tennis Rolls to 7-0 Win Over Post

Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team won its fourth straight match on Wednesday afternoon, downing Post University, 7-0 at the Riley Family Tennis Courts.

STAC opened things up with a strong performance in doubles play, taking two of three matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Jemima Parkinson & Elita Silins cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 2, followed by Ebba Rosberg & Samanta Villegas Robles taking a 6-4 win at the No. 1 position.

Once the Spartans secured the doubles point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six singles matches from the Eagles, to secure a win on the day. Ebba Rosberg started the victory spree in the No. 1 slot, taking a victory via retirement (5-3) from Annunciata De-Souza. Elise Semmartin followed the trend taking a 6-1, 6-2 triumph in the No. 3 slot from Oceane Mallevre to give the Spartans a commanding 3-0 lead roughly halfway through the afternoon. Elita Silins took a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 4 spot to clinch the overall team victory, opening the door for No. 2 Viktoriia Pavlovets (Win: 6-4, 7-6 (3)), No. 5 Amanda Kadiri (Win: 6-1, 6-2) and No. 6 Kateryna Kryuchkova (Win: 6-0, 6-0) to keep the shutout victory intact.

Ebba Rosberg and Elita Silins each went 2-0 on the day, winning their doubles and singles matches.

THE ROCKHILL REPORT

"We needed to get a match in today and I am thankful that Post gave us solid competition", said Head Coach Dan Rockhill.

"I am trying to figure out some things with our third pair but our top two teams are two of the best in the region. They played well to get us the doubles point today."

"It was good to see Vika hit the ball well", remarked Rockhill. "If she plays to her potential, we are difficult to beat. I am really happy for Elita, today's Most Impactful Player, as she continues to get us a point wherever she is asked to play in the lineup. Elise, Amanda and Kat were also wonderful today."

"I am looking forward to our weekend trip to the Buffalo area to complete the ECC schedule", commented Rockhill. "The remainder of the season will be played indoors so these upcoming matches will help us prepare for the ECC tournament at the end of the month."
