DOLPHINS KNOCK OFF BLOOMFIELD IN FIRST-EVER MEETING BEHIND FOUR SECOND HALF GOALS

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team picked up their first win of the 2023 season earlier today as they defeated the Bloomfield College Bears 4-1.  The Dolphins improve to 1-0-1 on the season and the Bears open the season 0-1.  After the two teams went into the half locked in a scoreless tie, the Dolphins surged ahead behind four second half goals going in front 4-0.  The Bears registered a late goal to make it 4-1, but this would be the final time either team would score.

The Dolphins generated plenty of scoring chances in the first half, but 10 shots weren't enough to break into the goal column.  However, they nearly doubled their shot output in the second half, and scored four times behind 19 shots.  Emily Albano opened the scoring with a goal in the 48th minute, Jacquelyn D'Amico scored four minutes later following a rebound off the crossbar, Adriana Melgar finished another shot from in close, and Isabella Radovini scored of a takeaway inside of the penalty area.  Tabi Wanjiku Mwaura converted the first Bears goal of the season with just over 15 minutes to play, but this wasn't nearly enough to threaten the CSI lead.

Melgar, D'Amico, and Radovini finished with 6 shots, 5 shots, and 9 shots respectively for the Dolphins while Albano played the full 90 minutes in addition to scoring a goal.  Many Bears played the full match as well with the team dressing only 11 players for the match.

The Dolphins are right back in action at Dolphins Soccer Park on Wednesday when they face Felician University at 1:00 PM.
