DOMINICAN DOWNS FELICIAN UNIVERSITY FOR FIRST CONFERENCE WIN
West Haverstraw, N.Y. (9/19/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team defeated the Golden Falcons 3-1 in a CACC contest played at the Town of Haverstraw Recreational Facility in West Haverstraw, N.Y.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 2-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play. Felician falls to 0-5-2 and 0-2 in the CACC.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) improved to 2-2-1 overall on the season and recorded four saves for Dominican.
Felician goalkeeper Alexis Lambertino made four saves for the Golden Falcons but suffered the loss.
Dominican got off to a fast start as Kaitlyn Zeeb (Piscataway, N.J.) took connecting passes from Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany) and Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) for the 1-0 lead.
Later in the first half, Zeeb buried her second goal of the game and third of the season after teammate Brianna Mikucki (Corum, N.Y.) connected on a through ball into the box and picked up the assist.
The Lady Chargers extended their lead to 3-0 when Kelly Harris (Blauvelt, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season and Koster picked up her second assist of the game.
The Golden Falcons scored their first goal of the game at the 76:57 mark after they were awarded a corner kick taken Filly Urias. Kate Braun connected on the goal off the corner kick as Urias was awarded an assist.
Dominican didn't allow another goal after and secured the 3-1 victory.
The Lady Chargers fired a total of 20 shots in the game. Wysocki led the way with four shots while Koster, Zeeb, Olivia Ferris (Staten Island, N.Y.), and Nicholette Brunner (East Islip, N.Y.) all added three shots. Kelly Harris finished the game with two shots.
The Lady Chargers continue their CACC schedule when they travel to Holy Family University this Saturday to take on the Tigers at 12:00 PM.
