Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team battled the elements and the visiting Holy Family University Tigers to a 0-0 draw on a rainy and windy Saturday afternoon at Knights Field. With the deadlock, the Purple Knights are now 5-3-3 overall and 3-2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. Holy Family is now 2-5-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the CACC.
Saturday's result is the second time this season that UB has played a match that finished as a 0-0 contest, as the Purple Knights and St. Anselm drew at 0-0 on September 8.
The game was close in many categories on Saturday, as UB outshot the visitors, 9-7; while Holy Family held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Bridgeport's Angelina Griva (Fr., Zakynthos, Greece) earned her second shutout of 2023 making two saves, and the Tigers' Jaina Preuhs made four stops for her clean sheet.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team opens a four-match road trip with an important conference match at Wilmington (Del.) University next Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for 12 noon in the First State.
