BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In their final conference games of the season, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team was swept in a doubleheader against Jefferson on Sunday. The Purple Knights dropped contests of 3-2 and 13-3.
GAME ONE – Jefferson 3, Bridgeport 2
The Purple Knights were unable to hold a 2-0 edge in the opener. Jefferson scored three runs in the sixth to ultimately secure the win. The Rams' final two runs came off a UB error.
Sophomore Brendan Palmer served as the losing pitcher for Bridgeport despite pitching well. The right-hander allowed one earned run across 5.1 innings of action. He yielded just six hits.
Joaquin Brasher registered 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Offensively, Jaden Echevarria provided UB with a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first inning. Jeremy Rodrigues supplied the second run courtesy of a sac fly in the third.
Anthony Pascale and Vin Mallon each scored runs while the total offense consisted of five singles and a pair of walks.
GAME TWO – Jefferson 13, Bridgeport 3
Justin Leigh, Pascale and Rodrigues all tallied RBI hits in the second game.
Leigh singled in a run in the second inning while Pascale launched an RBI triple in the third and Rodrigues followed with an RBI double—also in the third.
