Volleyball Drops First Contest Of 2023 At St. Rose
Team Back On The Court On Friday And Saturday At Post University Classic
Albany, N.Y.-It was a tough Tuesday night in the state capital of New York for the University of Bridgeport volleyball team, as the Purple Knights suffered their first loss of the 2023 season, as they were swept by the Golden Knights of the College of St. Rose, 21-25, 17-25, 20-25. UB is now 2-1 on the young season, and St. Rose evens its season mark at 2-2.
Bridgeport could never get its offense in gear against the Golden Knights hitting just .104 for the match, and not having anyone reach double-digit kills.
Freshman Hailey Jesson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights with seven kills, and junior setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Ariz.) had 26 assists.
On defense, Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Tex.) led UB in digs with seven.
Up next, the Bridgeport volleyball team will take part in the Post University Classic this Friday and Saturday in Waterbury. UB will take on Post and Franklin Pierce on Friday afternoon and St. Anselm and Southern Connecticut State on Saturday.
