HARRIS SCORES LATE SECOND HALF GOAL AS LADY CHARGERS EARN A TIE WITH CALDWELL
Caldwell, N.J. (10/3/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with CACC rival Caldwell University this afternoon in a game played at the Caldwell Athletics Field in Caldwell, N.J.
Kelly Harris (Blauvelt, N.Y.) scored a late goal to tie the game at the 77:35 mark for her second goal of the season.
The Lady Chargers now stand at 3-3-2 overall and 2-0-2 in conference play. The Cougars now hold a record of 4-2-2 overall and 2-0-2 in the CACC.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) recorded two saves for Dominican while Caldwell keeper Ariana Gaminara recorded seven saves.
The Cougars got on the board in the first half after Kyla Willis scored an unassisted goal for the 1-0 advantage at 26:38.
CU held the edge in shots in the first half 5-4 while Dominican was awarded three corner kicks.
The Lady Chargers made an offensive push in the second half to try and get the tying goal by outshooting the Cougars 11-1. Dominican also earned seven corner kicks in the second half.
Dominican tied the game in the 78th minute after Harris scored off of a corner kick which was taken by Olivia Gouldsbury (New Milford, N.J.) who picked up the assist.
The Lady Chargers return home this Saturday when they host Wilmington University on O'Brien Field at 12:00 PM.
