Philadelphia, Pa. (10/21/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team was edged by the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University.
The Rams fought their way back twice in the game including two second half goals by Alexa Callahan helped TJU over Dominican.
The Lady Chargers fall to 3-6-3 overall and 2-3-3 in conference play. The Rams improve to 9-2-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers jumped on the Rams early with two goals in the first ten minutes of the opening half. Olivia Gouldsbury (New Milford, N.J.) scored her second goal of the season at 5:26. Kaitlyn Zeeb (Piscataway, N.J.) picked up the assist on the goal.
At the 9:15 mark, Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany) connected for her third goal of the season to give Dominican the early 2-0 advantage.
The Rams countered with two unanswered goals later in the half to tie the game. Avery Ngami got the Rams on the board after connecting with a header off of a corner kick taken by Mia Ferrara who picked up the assist.
Later in the first half, Mia Ferrera scored the second TJU goal off of a free kick to tie the game 2-2.
Sabine Sorensen (Ballerup, Denmark) connected for her second goal of the season to give the Lady Chargers a 3-2 lead late in the opening half. Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) recorded the assist.
The Lady Chargers held the 3-2 lead until the 62nd minute when Alexa Callahan scored her first of two second half goals to tie the score 3-3.
Callahan scored the go ahead goal 43 seconds later to give the Rams a 4-3 lead over Dominican and the score would remain as Jefferson secured the win.
Devin Sullivan picked up an assist on the tying goal and go ahead goal while Nikki Dedes also added an assist on the go ahead goal.
Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) made five saves in net for Dominican all in the second half but suffered the loss. Liv Riddel started in goal for the Rams and made seven saves including six in the second half to help secure the win.
The Lady Chargers return home next Wednesday, October 25th when they host the Bears of Bloomfield College.
