Fast Start Helps Lift Visiting Jefferson To A 68-52 Win Over Host Bridgeport In CACC Women's Action
Purple Knights Are Back In Action At Home On Tuesday Night Versus Felician
Bridgeport, Conn.-The visiting Thomas Jefferson University Rams raced out to a 7-0 lead and never looked backed, as the Rams, one of the top teams in the East Region of NCAA Division II women's basketball, topped the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 68-52, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 7-8 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Jefferson ups its overall record to 13-2, and the Rams are a perfect 5-0 in the CACC.
Freshman Amani Melendez (Woodbridge, Va.) was the only UB player to reach double-digit scoring in the game netting a game-high 20 points.
Senior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was next on the Bridgeport scoring list with nine points, and she also pulled down seven rebounds and blocked four shots.
Mackenzie Creighton (Fr., Rockaway, N.J.) led the Purple Knights on the glass with 10 rebounds.
Sam Yencha led three Rams in double figures with 18 points for the winners.
The UB women's basketball team will next be in action at home on Tuesday night at 5:00 p.m. when the Purple Knights host Felician University in a CACC matchup.
