Felician Starts Fast in CACC Cross Divisional Victory over Women’s Basketball

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - - Felician raced out to a large lead and never looked back, defeating the Wilmington University women's basketball team, 78-32, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference cross-divisional contest on Saturday afternoon in Job Gym.

The CACC North Division leading Golden Falcons (5-10, 5-1 CACC) turned 36 Wilmington (1-14, 0-5 CACC) turnovers into 35 points at the other end and outscored the Wildcats, 48-6, in the paint on Saturday. The Golden Falcons scored the first 21 points of the game and led by as many as 49 late in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats didn't get on the board until a free throw with 9:14 to play in the second quarter, trailing 21-1. All five of the team's points in the first half came from the free throw line, as the Golden Falcons led 44-5 at the break.

The team's first bucket came off a Trinity Brittingham three-pointer to start the third quarter, as the Wildcats started the second half on an 8-2 run. The Wildcats had another 6-0 run but the Golden Falcons answered with a 10-0 run to end the third quarter, ultimately winning the frame, 16-14.

Mia Fuller led the Wildcats with eight points while Daja Clairborne scored four points while adding a team high nine rebounds. Aniyah Bond finished with four points and five rebounds as well.

The Wildcats remain on the road for one more game, as they travel to CACC South Division foe Georgian Court on Wednesday night. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off in the Wellness Center in Lakewood, New Jersey.
