STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Bloomfield College Bears men's soccer team suffered a, 4-0 setback in their season opener on the road Thursday. The non-conference battle with the College of Staten Island (CSI) left Bloomfield with an 0-1 record while the Dolphins improved to 1-0.
The Bears fell behind early in the first half when CSI struck in the 6
th minute of play. The home team added another goal in the 26
th minute and went into the halftime break with a 2-0 advantage. Bloomfield was outshot, 11-2 in the opening frame as captain,
Jomar Vizcaino (0-1) recorded 6 saves in goal.
The Dolphins knocked in two more goals early in the second half to shut the door on the contest.
Arsenios Demetriou had four shots for the visiting team with one on target while reserves,
Valddy Jean-Pierre and
Abdoulaye Camara each recorded one shot on goal for the match.
The Bears look to quickly regroup as next up they play their home opener on Sunday, September 3
rd against Shepherd University. The Labor Day Weekend battle at Foley Field is set for a 3:00 pm start.
