LADY CHARGERS TURNED AWAY BY PURPLE KNIGHTS
West Haverstraw, N.Y. (9/2/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team fell in non-conference action this afternoon to Saint Michael's College in a game played at the Town of Haverstraw Recreation Facility.
Dominican fell to the Purple Knights by a score of 4-1 and now drop to 0-2 overall on the season. The Purple Knights earn their first win of the season to improve to 1-0-1.
Anna Bianca Stevens-Cardin started in goal for Saint Michael's and made 10 saves to earn her first win of the season. Juliana Anastopoulos also entered the game in goal for SMC and played the full second half.
Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) made four saves for Dominican but suffered the loss.
First half goals by Emilia McGiffert and Kayleigh Crowell gave the Purple Knights a 2-0 advantage by halftime. Cassie Tofteroo recorded an assist on the second goal.
The Purple Knights extended to a 3-0 lead at the 48:32 mark after Bella DelVecchio scored an unassisted goal.
Dominican answered and got on the board after sophomore forward Bryanna Foti (Newburgh, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season. Logan Valdes (Stony Point, N.Y.) recorded an assist on the goal.
Claire Williams scored an unassisted goal at the 78:43 mark and the Purple Knights secured the 4-1 victory.
Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany) led the Lady Chargers in shots with seven while Kaitlyn Zeeb (Piscataway, N.J.) added five shots and Olivia Gouldsbury (New Milford, N.J.) finished with four shots.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesday, September 6th when they visit Mercy College for a non-conference game with the Mavericks at 12:30 PM.
