LADY CHARGERS TAKE DOWN LIGHTNING ON FIELD DEDICATION DAY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/30/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team defeated the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in a historic victory as today marked the first game on Sister Mary Eileen O'Brien Field.
The Lady Chargers shutout the Lightning 2-0 to improve to 3-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play. GBC falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) recorded her second shutout of the season and recorded six saves to improve to 3-3-1.
GBC goalkeeper Nikki Cashin made five saves in net for the Lightning but suffered the loss.
Forward Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany) put the Lady Chargers on the board at the 21:49 mark for her first of the season. Kaitlyn Zeeb (Piscataway, N.J.) picked up the assist on the goal after taking the initial shot which was saved but deflected to Koster.
Later in the opening half, Zeeb connected for her fourth goal of the season to give Dominican the 2-0 advantage. Koster and Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) each picked up an assist on the goal.
The score would remain the same for the rest of the game and the Lady Chargers secured the win.
Dominican out shot GBC 19-13 in the game. Zeeb and Koster combined for 10 shots for Dominican.
The Lady Chargers return to action next Tuesday, October 3rd when they visit Caldwell University for a CACC contest with the Cougars at 3:30 PM.
