STAC Baseball Falls To Crosstown Rivals Dominican, 13-7

Pomona, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas saw its two-game win streak ended on Wednesday afternoon, as crosstown rivals Dominican University took a 13-7 decision over the Spartans at Clover Stadium in Rockland County.

STAC slips to 13-17 on the season, while Dominican moves to 12-22 on the year.

  • C.J. Cumbo was the other Spartan to record a multi-hit day, going 2-for-4, with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored. Cumbo was also walked once.
  • STAC also received a hits from Sean Lynch (1-for-5), Kyle DeCresce (1-for-5), Gregory DiGiaro (1-for-4, Run, BB), Michael Zeis (1-for-3, Run, BB).
  • David Potenza (0-for-3) drove in a run and scored once, with Joseph Scamardella picking up an RBI in an 0-for-4 day. Both Spartans were also walked.
  • Will Kindl (L, 0-1) got the start for STAC in the non-conference matchup on Wednesday and lasted just two innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits, while striking out one. 
  • Anthony Holtje, Jalen Grant, Tom O'Neill, Eric Volpi, Ryan Callaghan and Jason Basilicata all saw time on the mound out of the bullpen for the Spartans and combined to throw six innings, while allowing 14 hits and 10 runs (nine earned), with five walks and two strikeouts.
