Wilmington, Del.-After a scoreless first half, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team scored three goals in the final 45 minutes of action to earn a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference road win over the host Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College on a rainy Saturday in Delaware. UB is now 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-0 in the CACC. The Lightning are now 0-2-4 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
Junior Kate Thill (Goetzingen, Luxembourg) broke the scoreless deadlock quickly in the second half, as she netted her third goal of the year on a penalty kick just 1:40 into the final stanza.
The match would stay 1-0 in favor of Bridgeport until the 83rd minute when Tatianna Lizarraga (Grad. Tucson, Ariz.) scored her first goal in a UB uniform off an assist from goalkeeper Antia Lopez (Fr., Galicia, Spain).
The Purple Knights' final tally of the day came on a Goldey-Beacom own goal in the 89th minute.
Along with her assist, Lopez notched her second straight clean sheet making five saves on the day.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team returns to friendly confines of Knights Field on Wednesday afternoon for a conference match against local rival the Post University Eagles. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
