Purple Knights Remain Unbeaten In Conference Play With A Furious Five-Set Comeback Victory At Dominican New York
UB Now 6-0 In The CACC And 13-3 Overall
Orangeburg, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team remained unbeaten in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at 6-0, and raised its overall season record to 13-3 with a five-set, comeback road win over the host Dominican University New York Chargers on Thursday night, 18-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-4. In the fifth and deciding set, Bridgeport hit a smoking-hot .529 as a team committed no attack errors. The Purple Knights have now won three matches in a row and nine of their last 10 outings. Dominican is now 6-10 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Freshman Hailey Jessen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the UB offense with 17 total kills on the evening.
Jessen was joined in double-digit kills by classmate Grace Presswood (S. Dennis, Mass.), who finished with a double-double of 12 kills and a team and match-high 22 digs, plus sophomore Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy), who notched her own double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs, as she hit and impressive .500 for the winners over the five sets.
Junior setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Ariz.) directed the Bridgeport offense with a total of 42 assists.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team returns to Hubbell Gym in less than 48 hours on Saturday for a quick visit to Hubbell Gym for one match before heading back out on the road, as Chestnut Hill College comes to town for a 12 noon CACC tilt.
