Bridgeport Pushes Past Post In 3-1 Conference Win
Women’s volleyball extended their conference winning streak to five games after dispatching Post University in four sets.
Waterbury, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball stayed red hot Tuesday evening after beating the Post University Eagles on the road. The Purple Knights won sets one, three and four by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-23 respectively with post taking the second set 25-17. The win makes it five conference wins in a row and improves UB's season record to 19-6 overall and 12-1 in CACC play.
Freshman Hailey Jessen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights offense with 19 kills along with four digs and two block assists.
Classmate Grace Presswood (S. Dennis, Mass.) led the back line with 24 digs and added 11 kills to secure the double-double while Senior Hailey Andrews (Southington, Conn.) supplied 18 digs to the defense effort.
Setter Jaden Drollinger (Jr., Queens Creek, Az.) accumulated 39 assists along with eight digs and four aces. Freshman Ella Young (Commerce City, Colo.) matched Drollinger's four aces including the match winning point while also chipping in with six digs.
Paola Hernandez (Jr., Bayamon, P.R) contributed 10 digs and six kills to the winning effort.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will play next on Saturday, November 4th as they host Goldey Beacom College at 1:00 p.m. and Southern Connecticut State University at 5:00 p.m. for a tri match at the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. The two visitors will play each other in the 3:00 p.m. slot.
