Jaden Drollinger Reaches The 3,000 Career Assist Plateau In Volleyball's Four-Set Victory Over Wilmington (Del.)
Junior Becomes Only The Second Player In Program History To Amass At Least 3,000 Assists
Wilmington. Del.-Junior setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Ariz.) became just the second student-athlete in University of Bridgeport women's volleyball program history to reach the 3,000 career assists plateau on Saturday evening, as helped the Purple Knights to a four-set, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference road win over the host Wilmington (Del.) University Wildcats. After losing the first set, 21-25, the Purple Knights won the next three frames, 25-10, 25-22, 25-23, to take the match. With the victory, UB is now 15-4 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Wilmington is now 10-11 overall and 3-4 in the CACC.
Drollinger needed 30 assists coming into the match to reach the 3,000 mark, and she finished the evening with a total of 51, marking the third time this year she has posted at least 50 helpers. Jaden had a fine all-around outing on Saturday finishing with a double-double amassing 12 digs, and she also added two kills, two service aces and a block for the winners.
She joins Ellie Rich in Bridgeport's 3,000 assist club.
Freshman Hailey Jessen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights' offense with a match-high 22 kills.
Jessen was joined in double-digit kills by junior Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) who had a season-high 14 and sophomore Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) who slammed 10. Both Hernandez and Tomiello finished with double-doubles, as Paola had 10 digs and Lucia notched a team-best 19 digs.
Grace Presswood (Fr., S. Dennis, Mass.) also reached double figures in digs with 14 for the Purple Knights.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team returns to Hubbell Gym for a home non-conference contest against American International College at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
