STAC Softball Sweeps Dominican, 8-2, 6-0

Sparkill, N.Y. - Sarah Clancy and Eliana Raposo provided the pitching and Elyse Marcano and Nayah Diaz supplied the offense to carry St. Thomas Aquinas College to 8-2 and 6-0 wins over Dominican University to sweep a non-conference softball doubleheader today at Spartan Field.

Clancy, a senior lefty, twirled a three-hitter and registered seven strikeouts in the first game and Raposo followed with her second career shutout. The wins lifted STAC's record to 7-11 while Dominican fell to 2-11.

Diaz enjoyed her best day as a Spartan. In the first game, she drilled a two-run single and followed with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. She also added an excellent play at third base to snag a hard line drive. Elyse Marcano (two hits), Raposo (two-run double) and Aliya Feerick (two hits, two runs, stolen base) also excelled at the plate. Diaz had a long double in the second game and a run-producing ground out to back Raposo's effective pitching. Marcano added a triple and double while Raposo added an RBI triple.

STAC next hosts Wilmington University (Del.) on Monday in a non-conference doubleheader that begins at 2:30 p.m.
