Wilmington, Del. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team won its second straight match in as many days, with a 6-1 road victory over Goldey-Beacom College on Thursday afternoon at Delcastle Tennis Center.
STAC improves to 14-6 on the season, while Goldey-Beacom closes out its 2023-24 campaign at 5-14.
The Spartans opened the match with a clean sweep of doubles play, as No. 1 Viktoriia Pavlovets & Kateryna Kryuchkova beat Elizabeth Mova & Zehra Canbaz, 6-4, No. 2 Elita Silins & Samanta Villegas Robles defeated Nahomi Quinonez & Jess Sanzo, 6-2 and No. 3 Amanda Kadiri & Sun Zhuoxuan bested Hannah Brandl & Macy Hendin-Walker 6-3.
When the teams switched to singles action, the maroon and gold would take five of six bouts to win the day and pick up its 14th win in 20 tries. No. 1 Viktoriia Pavlovets beat Elizabeth Mova in three sets 6-1, 1-6, 6-3, No. 2 Amanda Kadiri was victorious over Zehra Canbaz 6-2, 6-1, No. 3 Elise Semmartin raced past Nahomi Quinonez 6-0, 6-3, No. 5 Elita Silins downed Macy Hendin-Walker 6-0, 6-2 and No. 6 Kateryna Kryuchkova won over Hannah Brandl 6-4, 6-1. The only Spartan blemish came at No. 4, as Jess Sanzo slipped past Samanta Villegas Robles 7-5, 6-4.
