STAC Women's Lacrosse Shut Out At Wilmington (Del.)

Wilmington, Del. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 23-0 defeat at the hands of Wilmington University (Del.), in non-conference action on Friday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

STAC (0-2) was held to seven shots, nine ground balls, and nine draw controls on the day. Freshman goalkeeper Lilah Magenheimer (L, 0-2) made eight saves.

Amelie Gamache tallied six goals and five assists for the Wildcats (1-0), which led 8-0 at the end of the first quarter. Teammate Ella Royer also scored six times and added two helpers. Lauren Gresham (2 goals, 1 assist), Riley McQuaide (1 goal, 2 assists), Anastasia Giannoulis (1 goal, 1 assist), Maddy Bassoff (1 goal) and Mia Schultz (1 goal) also added to the totals on the stat sheet for Wilmington.

Senior Annavictoria Mazariegos and junior Katelyn Cerrato scooped up a team-high two ground balls apiece for the maroon and gold, while Cerrato, graduate student Hailey Galison and sophomore Ella Entress each recorded three draw controls. Mazariegos caused two turnovers in the match.

Katelyn Cerrato (4), senior Olivia Cerbo (2) and sophomore Rachael Paraskos (1) accounted for the Spartans seven total shots, with six winding up on net.

STAC travels to the City of Brotherly Love on Wednesday, February 28 for another non-conference matchup with Chestnut Hill College. The Spartans and Griffins will square off beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Victory Field #1 - Plymouth Whitemarsh in Philadelphia, Pa.
