Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Felician

LYNDHURST, N.J. – In the first of two final conference doubleheaders this weekend, the University of Bridgeport's baseball teamsplit a pair of games at Felician on Saturday.The Purple Knights earned a 9-6 win in the first contest before falling 6-2 in the finale.

GAME ONE – Bridgeport 9, Felician 6

The Purple Knights surged out to a 7-0 advantage through the first three innings of the opener. While Felician did trim this lead to 7-6 in the fourth, UB's pitching posted five straight scoreless innings to finish the game.

Tyler Hodella tossed three of those frames while Joaquin Brasher tallied his third save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

UB's starting pitcher Justin Nyarady picked up win No. 6 on the season (6-2) which is currently tied for the most in the CACC this season. He allowed just two earned runs on three hits across five innings of work.

The Bridgeport offense was led by a trio of two-hit performers. Liam O'Neal and Patrick Krempasky each went 2-for-3 with a combined three RBIs, two runs scored and five walks.

Jaden Echevarria, meanwhile, went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Echevarria scored on O'Neal's triple in the second inning.

Marcos Dominguez came up with one of UB's big hits when he singled in a pair of runs to give the visitors a 4-0 edge in the second.

GAME TWO – Felician 6, Bridgeport 2

The Purple Knights hopped out to another lead in the second game of the day but were unable to hold an early 2-0 edge.

UB's two runs were supplied by an Echevarria sac fly in the third to score Krempasky and an Anthony Pascale triple in the fourth that scored Dominguez.  

Pascale tallied a team-high two hits in the game while Jacob Rich hit a double in the fourth.
