Purple Knights Continues Strong Start To The 2023 Volleyball Campaign With Home Sweep Over Franklin Pierce
Purple Knights Now 7-2 Overall
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team upped its season record to 7-2 on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights swept the visiting Franklin Pierce University Ravens for the second time this season, as the Purple Knights triumphed at Hubbell Gym, 25-20, 28-26, 25-22. FPU is now 4-2 on the season.
Hailey Jessen (Fr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Bridgeport offense in the win with 24 kills, and she finished with a double-double, as she added 11 digs.
Classmate Grace Presswood (S. Dennis, Mass.) also had an impressive double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Sophomore Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) had a strong game at the net with nine kills on offense and a team-best three blocks (two solos).
Setter Jaden Drollinger (Jr., Queens Creek, Ariz.) dished out 47 assists and fell just short of her own double-double with nine digs.
Sophomore Isabella Carmona-Bailey (So., McKinney, Tex.) led the Bridgeport defense with 1 match-high 18 digs.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team hits the road to take on American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
