Spartans Clinch Season Series Sweep with 3-0 Victory at Caldwell University

Caldwell, N.J. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team completed the regular season series sweep of Caldwell University on Monday evening, taking a 3-0 road decision from the Cougars at the George R. Newman Center in New Jersey.

STAC improves to 5-14 on the year, while Caldwell sinks to 3-21.

How it Happened

The rematch comes just six days after the Spartans took a straight sets sweep (25-13, 25-21, 26-24) over the Cougars at Aquinas Hall on Halloween night.

STAC recorded double-digit kills in all three sets (15-12-14) with Caldwell for a .154 attack percentage on the evening.

Junior right side Jaizahir Marrero-George (Carolina, Puerto Rico) paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 22 kills (7.33 kill/set), while freshman middle blocker Lorielys Ruiz (Camuy, Puerto Rico) had ten.

George also registered seven digs, a service ace and a block assist, with Ruiz picking up seven digs and two service aces.

Junior libero/defensive specialist Aurivette Santos Bonilla (Villalba, Puerto Rico) recorded four services aces and a match-high 16 digs (5.33 digs/set) in the match.

Junior Lea Venghaus (Muenster, Germany) tallied 32 assists (10.67 assists/set) and 13 digs (4.33 digs/set).

Freshman defensive specialist/libero Allison Salinas (Glen Cove, N.Y.) recorded 14 digs (4.67 digs/set).
