ROMAIN AND SWIDOWSKI SHARE CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

NEW HAVEN, CT - Two freshmen stole the show last week in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball, as Post University's Brandon Romain and Holy Family University's Justin Swidowski were tabbed CACC Co-Players and Rookies of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 15.
Romain, a 6-3 freshman guard from Brooklyn, NY, poured in 42 points to go with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in a double-overtime triumph over Chestnut Hill College on Saturday. He shot 59-percent (13-for-22) from the field and 76.1-percent (16-for-21) from the free-throw line in his only action of the week.
Swidowski, a 6-8 freshman forward, averaged 24.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per-game in two contests last week. He tallied 25 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and four blocks in a win over Chestnut Hill. The Delran, NJ, native shot 61.5-percent (16-for-26) from the field and 88.9-percent (16-for-18) from the free-throw line for the week.
Honorable Mention
Gage Daye, Bloomfield (So., G, 6-2, Newark, NJ) - Tallied 34 points and four rebounds in his only action of the week in a win over Dominican.
Russell Frederick, Philadelphia (Jr., G, 6-1, Baltimore, MD) - In a 3-0 week, averaged 17.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per-game.
Azeez Ellegood, Goldey-Beacom (So., G, 5-8, Wilmington, DE) -
Led GBC to a 3-0 week with averages of 16.7 points, 3.7 assists and
3.33 steals per-game.
Valiant Jones, Nyack (Sr., PG, 6-0, Los Angeles, CA) - Led Nyack to a 2-0 week with averages of 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per-game.
CACC Notes
Bloomfield - In Tuesday's win over Dominican College, Gage Daye and Omari Knox combined for 55 points on 18-31 shooting, draining 6-11 attempts from outside the 3-point arc. Daye led BC with 34 points and Knox added 21 in the victory. Chris Sampson, Ahmad Harris, and Elias Brantley also had standout performances. Sampson made 7-10 attempts from the field and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. Harris had team highs in steals with four and assists with six, while Brantley put up 14 points on 6-10 shooting.
Chestnut Hill - Sophomore Trenton Davidheiser averaged 14.5 ppg and 8.0 rpg in a 0-2 week for the Griffins. He had his top performance of the season at Post University, recording his second double-double of the year with season-highs for points (21) and rebounds (13). He was 13-of-26 (50.0%) from the floor this week.
Holy Family - Holy Family split a pair of conference games last week to move its overall record to 7-17 and CACC mark to 6-7. The Tigers picked up an 89-78 win over Chestnut Hill. Guard Pat Kelly buried six 3-pointers to lead the charge with a career-high 28 points. Forward Justin Swidowski added 25 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and four assists. Swidowski paced the Tigers with his sixth double-double of the year (24 points, 10 rebounds) in a 63-62 loss to Caldwell. Swidowski is 22nd in the nation in blocks with 2.3 per game. This week, Holy Family travels to Wilmington (Del.) on Tuesday and Bloomfield on Saturday.
Nyack - Nyack has just one game on the schedule this week as Felician visits on Thursday, Feb. 19, in a game with big CACC playoff implications. The Warriors currently stand just one game ahead of the Golden Falcons in the CACC North Division standings.
Philadelphia - The Rams are on a three-game win streak as they
head into the final week of regular season competition. Juniors
Russell Frederick and Malcolm Ingram continue to be the leaders for
this squad, while forward Mike Yocum is averaging 2.5 blocks per
game. Freshman J.J. Gundry has a breakout game vs. Wilmington, not
missing a shot en route to a career-high eight-point performance.
