Four CACC Student-Athletes Named to Capital One Academic All-District® First Team
NEW HAVEN Conn. (February 6, 2013) – Four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) student-athletes from three different institutions have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District® First Teams. The teams, selected by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), were announced January 31.
Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa.) of Holy Family and Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa.) of Philadelphia were each First Team selections on the women’s side while Cory Quimby (Otisville, N.Y.) of Dominican and Jim Connolly (Harleysville, Pa.) of Philadelphia were selections on the men’s side. As first team selections, each student-athlete is now eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced later this month.
Erin Mann’s selection is the first of her career for the
Tigers. On the floor, Mann ranks among the conference leaders in a
number of offensive and defensive categories. She currently
ranks first in shooting percentage (.554), first in blocks (57),
second in points per game (17.6), ninth in total rebounds (162) and
tenth in rebounds per game (8.1).
Last month, Mann became the third player in program history to
score at least 1,600 points and record at least 800 rebounds in a
career. She currently has 1,663 career points and 820 career
rebounds. Mann ranks sixth all-time in program history in
points and fifth in rebounds. She is also second all-time
with 214 career blocks.
In the classroom, Mann is a Sport Marketing-Management major and
sports a 3.31 cumulative grade point average.
Philadelphia University senior forward Kristen Blye is averaging 11.0 ppg and 8.9 rpg while shooting 42.3 percent from the field. Blye is fifth in the CACC in minutes per game (33.7), ninth in rebounding, 15th in field goal percentage, and 19th in scoring.
Blye is 13 points away from becoming the 28th women's basketball player in Philadelphia University history to score 1,000 points. She is a two-time member of the CACC Winter All-Academic Team, and was named to the All-CACC third team last year.
Blye is a finance major who currently holds a 3.95 grade-point average.
Dominican College men's basketball player, Cory Quimby has started all 21 games for the Chargers this season. He is currently averaging a double-double with 14.0 ppg and 10.4 rpg. and scored his 1,000th career point in January. As of his selection, Quimby had tallied 13 double-double game performances this season. Quimby hold a rank of third in the CACC in rebounds per game and is third in NCAA Division II in double-doubles.
Quimby, who is majoring in Criminal Justice, has a grade-point average of 3.33.
Jim Connolly, a senior guard for Philadelphia has scored 1,393 points, which is 24th in program history. Last season, he was an All-CACC first team selection as he averaged 17.5 ppg. Connolly was an all-conference second team pick as a sophomore.
Connolly is fifth in the CACC in made three-pointers (46), seventh in minutes per game (35.7), 10th in free throw percentage (81.5), and 12th in scoring (14.8 ppg). He is leading the team in scoring and made three-pointers.
