Holy Family Wins First CACC Men's Track & Field Title

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (May 5, 2024) – The HFU men's track & field team captured the program's first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on Sunday, beating second place Wilmington by 31 points after finishing with 148.
Terrence Jones (East Orange, N.J./William Allen/LCTI) swept the hurdle events with CACC Championship records in both, highlighted by an NCAA provisional and school record, 53.20, in the 400m event. He had earlier crossed in 14.69 in the 100m event.
Holy Family had over half the field in the 400m hurdle final, earning 24 points as J'kwann Hamilton (Smithville, Jamaica/Edwin Allen (New Mexico Highlands University)) won silver with a time of 53.49 and Isaiah Davenport (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville), Jonathan Hackshaw (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman (Monroe College)) and Al-Amin Page (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) finished sixth through eighth.
Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) placed top-two in all three jumping events for a total of 28 points, highlighted by clearing an NCAA provisional and CACC Championship record of 2.10m in the high jump. The junior also won the triple jump with a mark of 14.34m.
The Tigers had the top four finishers in the high jump, with Davenport (1.94m), Skyler Salay (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) (1.89m) and Odane Smith (Saint Catherine, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) (1.89m) placing second through fourth and Jones seventh for a team-high 31 points in the event
The Tigers' fifth gold came in the 4x400m, with Hamilton, Kouto Anyika (Philadelphia, Pa./Pennwood), Nafis Zollicoffer (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway West) and Kimani Smith (Smithville, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) combining to cross in 3:17.49.
Anyika won silver in both the 200m (21.28) and 400m (48.53), breaking his own school record in the former.
The Tigers earned a total of 21 points in the long jump, led by Pierre (outdoor collegiate PR 7.04m) and Smith (6.95m) on the podium. Jones (6.56m) finished one spot behind, with Desi Stroud (Mays Landing, N.J./ACIT) (6.38m) rounding out the total.
O. Smith captured bronze in the triple jump too, marking at 14.06m, with Jones (13.10m) and Stroud (13.09m) placing seventh and eighth for a total of 19 points.
Holy Family's 14th medal came from the 4x100m relay team of O. Smith, Anyika, Zollicoffer and Leo Powell (/), who won bronze in 42.99.
K. Smith (50.76) and Zollicoffer (51.23) crossed back-to-back in the 400m for five points, while O. Smith (100m) and Davenport (110H) rounded out the point total with eight place finishes.
