Wilmington Back On Top in CACC MXC After Winning 2023 Title
TEAM RESULTS | INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (October 22, 2023) -- After a year not on top of the CACC mountain in men's cross country, Wilmington University took back its status as the top program in the conference as the Wildcats claimed the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship with a score of 46 points on Sunday at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa. WilmU narrowly edged out defending CACC Champion Georgian Court University as the Lions produced a total of 52 points.
All five Wildcat runners that scored finished among the top 15 in the individual standings to earn All-CACC honors. Vaughn Lackman finished second in a time of 27:12.60 and Trent Taylor was next in fifth place with a mark of 27:37.31. Joel Qquendo was the third Wildcat to finish among the top 10, as he was 10th in a time of 28:26.19 to earn CACC Rookie of the Year accolades. Carter Sparwasser (28:40.02) and Dan Wyshinski (28:41.23) placed 14th and 15th, respectively.
Caldwell University's Joey Datta was named the CACC Runner of the Year as he won the individual title in a blistering time of 26:43.00. It was the second year in a row he won the race to be named the CACC Runner of the Year.
GCU's second-place showing in the team standings was aided by Xavier Seals (3rd, 27:25.06), Kyle Spector (4th, 27:30.63) and Allec Valle (6th, 27:43.88).
Goldey-Beacom College rounded out the top three in the team standings with a score of 80 points and had a pair of top-10 showings from Zachary Landvik-Larsen (8th, 28:01.11) and Kosiani Dunkley (9th, 28:17.09).
