NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 9, 2021) -- Thomas Jefferson University standout Devin Sullivan on Tuesday was named the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Player of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Sullivan's honor highlighted a lengthy list of honorees on Tuesday, as voting for the major women's soccer awards, along with all conference recognition, was conducted by the league's 12 head coaches in the sport.
In addition to Sullivan, Goldey-Beacom College's Alyssa Ruggieri was named the CACC Rookie of the Year, while Wilmington University's Samantha Emmi was tabbed the CACC Defensive Player of the Year. She has posted three multi-goal games, and has scored at least one goal in each of the last four matches she played in during the regular season. Her top output during the regular season was a two-goal, two-assist effort for six points in a win over Georgian Court Universtiy back on Oct. 12.
Emmi has been one of the top defenders in the conference and the East Region during the 2021 campaign. She has helped WilmU tie for second in the CACC with a 0.91 goals against average as a team. The Wildcats are also tied with HFU for first in the conference with eight shutouts. Emmi has also chipped in on the offensive end with five goals and two assists this season.
