Felician's Geesey Wins CACC Individual Title; Wilmington Repeats as CACC Golf Champions

MIDDLETOWN, Del. (April 20, 2016) -- Felician University's Andrew Geesey fired a one-over-par, 72, during Wednesday's final round of the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf Championship to claim individual medalist honors with a two-day total of 145 (+3). While Geesey was laying claim to the tournament's top individual award, Wilmington University repeated as CACC Champions with a final round 297 (+13) on the way to a winning two-day total of 599 (+31) at the Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, Del.
Geesey birded the first and fourth holes on the way to an even-par, 35, on the front nine, while paring the first eight holes on the back nine on his way to a 37 on that side. His performance enabled Felician to finish in second place in the team standings with a score of 626 (+58).
Geesey's first-place performance enabled him to earn all-tournament honors, as the top-five and ties in the individual standings earned the accolade. Joining Geesey on the all-tournament were Ryan Rucinski (2nd, Wilmington), Miguel Siercke and Andreas Lunding (T3rd, Wilmington), Sam Clark and Joey Russo (T5th, Wilmington), Carlos Fernandez-Herzog (T5th, Post University) and Juan Roa (T5th, Concordia College).
The Wildcats benefitted from all five of the team's members earning all-tournament status to claim the conference title. Rucinski shot a a 146 over both days for a +4, including a final round 70 (-1). Lunding and Siercke were 10 over for the tournament with two-day totals of 152 each, as they tied for third. Lunding was three over (74) on the final day, while Siercke carded a 75 (+4). Clark and Russo tied for fifth with scores of 153 (+11). Clark shot a 79 on Wednesday, while Russo logged a 78.
Clark and Russo tied for fifth with Roa and Fernandez-Herzog. Roa had a 79 during the final round, while Herzog got his second round off to a solid start with two birdies on holes 1 and 2 before carding a 78.
The top-10 in the individual standings was rounded out by a tie for ninth between Chestnut Hill College's Matthew Balcer and Felician's Justin Keiser, as the duo each produced two-round totals of 156 (+14).
Nyack College, under first-year head coach Craig Seaman, finished third in the team standings with a score of 636 (+58).
The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (N.Y.) College, Dominican (N.Y.) College, Felician University, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Nyack College, Philadelphia University, Post University of Waterbury, University of the Sciences, and Wilmington University.
