CACC Announces 2013 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams
LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Georgian Court University senior midfielder Corinne Coyle has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year following a vote by the league's eight conference coaches and announced at the annual awards banquet tonight. Philadelphia University freshman Liz Mower was tabbed as the Rookie of the Year, Georgian Court mentor Kerry O'Donnell was named Coach of the Year and first-year program, Nyack College garnered the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Coyle was named as the conference's top player after leading the league in goals (65), points (79), and free position goals (14). She ranks second in the conference in shots (99), shots on goal (86), fifth in shooting percentage (65.7%) and seventh in assists (14). The Brick, N.J. native's 4.27 goals per game average currently ranks third in Division II, while her 5.20 points per game average is ranks 11th in the Division. For her career, Coyle has amassed 150 goals, 40 assists for 190 points entering the conference tournament. The senior's season has been highlighted by 10-point efforts against Nyack College (3/20) and Dominican College (3/27), in which she found the back of the net nine times. Coyle has 15 multiple goal efforts to date.
The CACC Rookie of the Year, Mower is second to only Coyle in goals with 48 and is currently ranked third in the league in points with 68. The Harleysville, Pa. native has enjoyed a freshman season that has her ranked in the top-10 in several league categories including: shots on goal (3rd, 73), assists (4th, 20) and shots (4th, 89). Mower recorded a season-high six goals against Post University on April 6 and eight points against Chestnut Hill on March 20.
In her first season head coach at Georgian Court, O'Donnell has guided the Lions to a share of the CACC North Division Regular Season title. O'Donnell is the second consecutive, first-year coach to win the award (Jackie Trainer, Wilmington). The Lions will battle the CACC south second-seed Holy Family in the league's second semifinal match on Saturday, April 27 at 2pm.
Joining Coyle and Mower on the All-CACC First Team are Stephanie Gallo and Olivia Rotunno of Georgian Court; Allison Smithwick, Christina Brennan and Olivia Antonopoulos of Dominican; Libby Nichols and Melissa Styer of Philadelphia U.; Stephanie McNesby and Grace Deckert of Holy Family; Brianne Timony of Chestnut Hill; and Alison Kern of Wilmington.
The All-CACC Second Team includes: Brianna Lancetta, Caitlin Carrezola, Marissa Lawson, Jessica Maloney, and Maria Mattioli of Holy Family; Liz Case, Jaclyn Hall, and Megan Keffer of Wilmington; Meghan Diggett and Miranda Polaski of Post; Carli DiCioccio and Christine Page of Philadelphia U; and Amanda Cathcart of Georgian Court.
The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The member institutions are Bloomfield College, Caldwell College, Chestnut Hill College, Concordia (N.Y.) College, Dominican (N.Y.) College, Felician College, Georgian Court University, Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family University, Nyack College, Philadelphia University, Post University, University of the Sciences and Wilmington University.
