Women’s Volleyball Ousted By Owls In Non-Conference Loss
UB women’s volleyball dropped the second game of Saturday’s tri-match to Southern Connecticut State 3-1.
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team were beaten in Saturday's second match of the day by Southern Connecticut State University 3-1. The Owls took sets one, two and four by scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-21 respectively, while the Purple Knights won the third set with a score of 25-8. The non-conference loss drops UB's overall season record to 20-7.
The Owls net defense was the largest separator of the two teams with Southern earning two solo and 10 assisted blocks to UB's four assisted blocks. The Purple Knights also registered 23 attacking errors, nine more than the Owl's 14.
Freshman Hailey Jessen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the team for the second time today with a game-high 18 kills and added five digs.
Grace Presswood (Fr., S. Dennis, Mass.) accumulated 14 kills along with a team-high 13 digs for the Purple Knights.
Graduate Student Datari Mathis (Wethersfield, Conn.) tallied 10 kills and added three digs.
Junior setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) supplied 44 assists, while adding eight digs, three aces and two kills.
Paola Hernandez (Jr., Bayamon, P.R.) provided 12 digs to the UB defense whileElla Young (Commerce City, Colo.) added 10 to the defensive cause.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will be back in action on Monday, November 6th at 7:00 p.m. against the University of New Haven Chargers. This match will also serve as the 2023 Senior night Game for the Purple Knights.
