CLERMONT, Fla. – On the penultimate day of their trip to Florida, the University of Bridgeport's softball team dropped contests to Clarion (5-1) and Ashland (13-1) on Saturday.
GAME ONE – Clarion 5, Bridgeport 1
The Purple Knights mustered only three hits in the opener—two of which came off the bat of senior Hailey Kim. She also knocked in UB's lone run with an RBI single in the fifth.
Kim has been red hot of late, going 7-for-10 over UB's last four games. She is now batting .407 this season in 27 at-bats.
Jadyn Prievo recorded the Purple Knights' third single in the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh.
GAME TWO – Ashland 13, Bridgeport 1 (Five Innings)
Angela Oros and Samantha Schiebe each had two hits in the finale. Schiebe knocked in UB's lone run with an RBI single in the fifth.
Freshman Samantha Ledger knocked UB's lone extra base-hit of the day with a double in the fourth.
The Purple Knights had their chances in the second game, finishing with nine runners left on base.
