Nationally Ranked No. 12 Rams Control Women’s Basketball, 70-33

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - An elongated run spanning parts of three quarters allowed the nationally ranked No. 12 Jefferson Rams to take a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division game, 70-33, on Wednesday night on Herb Magee Court.

Fatou Ndao hit two from the foul line to bring the Wildcats (2-21, 1-12 CACC) to within 14-11 with 2:10 to play in the first quarter. But then the Rams, ranked No. 12 in this week's D2SIDA Women's Basketball National Poll and No. 19 in the WBCA Coaches Poll, used the next 16:53 of game time to outscore the Wildcats, 39-4, and take the game over.

Amaja Mack hit the first of her two three-pointers early in the game to give the Wildcats a 5-4 lead. The Rams took an 8-5 lead before Fatou Ndao scored on back-to-back buckets to give the Wildcats a slim 9-8 lead with 4:22 to play in the quarter. The Rams used a quick 6-0 run to lead 14-9 before Ndao scored two from the line to make it 14-11 with 2:10 to play. The Rams scored the final eight points of the quarter to lead after one, 22-11.

Fatou Ndao scored the first bucket of the second quarter, but then the Rams rattled off the next 17 points to take a commanding 39-13 lead. Jade Roberts converted a layup with 3:12 to go in the half before the Rams scored the final eight points of the quarter to lead, 47-15, at the half.

The Rams' run continued into the third quarter before Jade Roberts scored to make it 53-17 and stop a 14-0 run.

The Wildcats won the fourth quarter, 13-11, getting seven points from Emani Lucas-Davis as well as buckets from Fatou Ndao, Jade Roberts, and Tanasia Miles.

Fatou Ndao led the Wildcats with 10 points and nine rebounds while Emani Lucas-Davis came off the bench to score seven points and two rebounds. Jade Roberts and Amaja Mack finished with six points each.

The Rams turned 26 Wilmington turnovers into 37 points at the other end while only turning the ball over nine times.

The Wildcats return home for their next contest as they host Post on Saturday afternoon. The women tip-off at 1:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
