Firebirds Second Half Rally Not Enough in Bloomfield Match Up

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's basketball team fell to Bloomfield College 69-76, Saturday afternoon at the E.B Henderson Sports Complex. The Firebirds fall to 1-2 on the season while the Bears improved to 2-2.

Five Firebirds scored in the double-figures. with Torrence Horton coming off the bench to lead the team, with 13 points. Jahmir Marable-Williams and Eric Morgan Jr added 12 points each , Hartnel Haye added 11, and Micah Campbell added ten. 

Marable-Williams packed the stat sheet graabing seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Haye wasn't far behind, just slightly missing out on a double-double, grabbing a team high nine rebounds, and six assists. 

UDC had a slow offensive first half start as the Bears opened up a 14 point lead before going into the break.  The Firebirds fought hard to bring the game back in reach in the second half, going on  few runs, slowly chipping at the deficit.

With 2:11 to go Morgan Jr knocked down a shot from behind the arc, bringing the game back down to single digits. Marable-Williams, followed up, with two made shots at the foul line, to spark hopes of a comeback, with a one posession game. The Bears, however managed to hold on and a draw a few fouls to secure their victory over the home team. 

Next Up, UDC (1-2, 0-0 ECC) will travel to cross-town rival, Bowie State for a pre-thanksgiving showdown. The Game is slated to off at 7:30 PM.
