BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Limiting their opponent to a season-low point total on Tuesday night, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team pulled out a 74-65 win over conference foe, Felician University.
Down 59-58 with 6:11 remaining, the Purple Knights closed the game on a 16-6 run. Amongst an array of clutch plays, it was a corner three-pointer by D'Andre Collins that supplied Bridgeport with a 68-61 lead with 1:41 left.
Speaking of Collins, the senior guard led the way with one of his best performances of the season. The New Jersey native went off for 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting while also grabbing a season-high 11 rebounds.
Sam DeSouza and Tim Dawson joined in double figures, registering 11 and 10 points respectively. Jayden Iturmendi nearly got there as well, finishing with nine points. He also hauled in six rebounds.
Bridgeport's bench provided a much-needed spark on Tuesday, outscoring Felician's bench by a 20-11 margin. Junior Nick Traill did a little bit of everything, finishing with eight points, six rebounds and four assists.
Collectively, it was another solid effort from the three-throw line as UB finished 12-of-15 from the charity stripe.
