Volleyball Tops Caldwell In Four Sets For Fifth Straight Win
UB Now 9-2 Overall And 2-0 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team picked up its fifth win a row and seventh victory in its last eight outings with a four-set, home Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph over the visiting Caldwell University Cougars on Thursday night in Hubbell Gym, 25-8, 25-23, 21-25, 25-7. The Purple Knights are now 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the CACC. Caldwell slips to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Hailey Jessen (Fr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led a trio of UB players in double-digit kills with a match-high 18, and she also led Bridgeport in digs with nine.
She was joined in double-figure kills by sophomore Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) with 14 and junior Madison Jongsma (Sanford, Fla.) had 10 kills. Tomiello hit a red-hot .667, plus she added eight digs and three blocks for the winners, and Jongsma hit an impressive .529 on the night.
As a team, Bridgeport finished the four sets with a.362 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Ariz.) had 44 assists in the match, and she finished with a match-best eight service aces. As a team, the Purple Knights put down a season-high 17 service aces.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will look to continue its winning streak at Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon in a CACC contest. First serve in the Garden State is set for 12 noon.
