CLERMONT, Fla. – Continuing a 14-game trip to Florida, the University of Bridgeport's softball team dopped contests to Concordia-St. Paul (9-5) and Minnesota State-Mankato (2-0) on Friday.
Game One – Concordia-St. Paul 9, Bridgeport 5
The Purple Knights were unable to sustain a 4-1 lead in the opener as the Bears scored eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Senior Angela Oros led the UB offense with a 2-for-4 effort that included her third long ball of the season. She supplied the majority of UB's runs with a three-run home run in the third inning.
Oros is now batting .433 in nine games this season with 12 RBIs and eight runs scored.
Classmate Hailey Kim was also stellar at the plate. The Virginia native finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored. Kim is now batting .391 across 10 games this season.
Game Two – Minnesota State, Mankato 2, Bridgeport 0
Sophomore pitcher Vise Zarate served as the hard-luck loser in the second game of the day. The right-hander allowed just two earned runs across six innings of work.
Zarate helped herself at the plate as well. She finished 2-for-3 with the bat in her hands.
Kim also went 2-for-3 against the Mavericks to complete a five-hit day between the two games.
