Bridgeport, Conn.-After a slow start allowing a goal just 55 seconds into play, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team quickly rebounded to totally dominate the visiting Post University Eagles in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match, 5-1, at Knights on Wednesday afternoon. The five goals are a season high for the Purple Knights, who outshot the visitors by a whopping 35-2 margin in the contest.
With the victory, Bridgeport is now 4-2-2 overall and 2-1-0 in the CACC. The Eagles slip to 1-6-0 overall and are winless 0-3-0 in conference play.
After giving up the early score, UB's Brooke Boucher (Harrow, Canada) tied things up with the first of her two goals on the day off an assist from junior Kate Thill (Goetzingen, Luxembourg) in the fifth minute.
Tatianna Lizarraga (Grad., Tucson, Ariz.) would then put Bridgeport ahead to stay when she potted the game-winning goal off a Post turnover at the 19:06 mark.
Along with Boucher's two tallies and Lizarraga's game-winner, sophomore Solune Moll (Berm, Switzerland) netted a goal on a lovely free kick, and Thill found the back of the net to give her a three-point day.
Purple Knights' goalkeeper Antia Lopez (Fr., Galicia, Spain) made one save to earn her third win of 2023.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team will look to run its winning streak to four matches on Saturday at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
