Bridgeport lost a close game on Saturday afternoon 81-84 to the visiting Queens College Knights.
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team lost their Saturday afternoon non-conference contest with Queens College 81-84. Queens enjoyed a 13-point surplus over UB at the free throw line, scoring 29 points and shooting 82.9 percent whereas Bridgeport only totaled 16 points from the line and shot 64 percent. The loss drops UB's overall season record to 1-3.
Bridgeport got into foul trouble early as they racked up seven fouls within the opening five minutes of play and putting Queens College into bonus for the remainder of the opening half.
The Purple Knights would hang tough and clean things up defensively. They would trail by only two points, 40-42 as the teams headed to the locker rooms.
The second half was more of the same as Queens took 22 free throws in total while UB took only six. This all but erased the fact that Bridgeport went 4-for-11 from three-point range while the Queens Knights were 0-for-5 from beyond the arc in the second period. The final buzzer would sound with Queens victors over the Purple Knights 84-81.
Bridgeport's offense was led by D'Andre Collins (Sr., Newark, N.J.) as he went 4-for-6 from three-point territory with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Junior Nick Traill (Valley Stream, N.Y.) registered 19 points while adding five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
