Rutherford, N.J.-Two goal within the final 15 minutes of the first half proved too much to overcome for the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team, as the Purple Knights fell to the host Felician University Golden Falcons, 5-0, in New Jersey on Wednesday afternoon. UB is now 4-5-2 overall and 3-2-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, and the Golden Falcons are 6-1-1 overall and remain unbeaten in the CACC at 4-0-0.
The hosts scored goals in the 33rd and 43rd minutes of play to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room at halftime, and then added three more tallies in second half on a penalty kick in the 70th minute, a marker five minutes later and a final goal in the 89th minute.
Felician outshot UB, 14-11, on the day and finished with a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
UB goalkeeper Hugo Franceschi (Fr. Toulouse, France) made six saves in 78 minutes of action, and Felician's Emanuele Moretti picked up a clean sheet making four stops.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team returns home to take on Holy Family University on Saturday evening at Knights Field. CACC action is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
