ZEEB'S SECOND HALF GOAL HELPS LIFT LADY CHARGERS OVER NEW HAVEN
West Haven, Conn. (9/12/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team edged the University of New Haven in non-conference action this afternoon for their first win of the season.
This afternoon's victory marks first year Heach Coach Brett Axelrod's first career win as a collegiate Head Coach.
Kaitlyn Zeeb (Piscataway, N.J.) scored the only goal of the game in the second half which helped lift the Lady Chargers over New Haven.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 1-3 overall while UNH falls to 2-2 overall.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) recorded her first win of the season in net for the Lady Chargers and earned her first shutout of the season. Paton made six saves in the shutout victory including four saves in the second half to keep UNH off the board.
New Haven goalkeeper Caitlyn Daley suffered the loss but made six saves.
The game was scoreless by halftime and for the first 16 minutes of the second half. Zeeb broke the scoreless tie at the 61:11 mark and Freshman defender Alexandra Sanchez (Yorba Linda, Calif.) recorded her first career assist.
Zeeb also led the team in shots with three while Stella Koster (Saarbruecken, Germany), Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.), and Sabine Sorensen (Ballerup, Denmark) each recorded two shots in the game.
The Lady Chargers will return to action this Saturday, September 16th when they travel to Georgian Court University for their CACC opener at 12:00 PM.
