FROSTBURG, Md. - - A matchup of regionally ranked teams couldn't be decided in regulation, but it was Frostburg State that walk-off the Wilmington University baseball team, 4-3, in the bottom of the 13th inning on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Wells Field.

Frostburg State is ranked No. 6 in the latest NCBWA Atlantic Region poll while the Wildcats are ranked No. 7 in the latest East Region Poll.

The Bobcats (25-9) scored in the bottom of the first and 13th innings only, collecting nine hits in the game. But the Wildcats (20-14) couldn't capitalize, scoring two in the top of the third and one more in the top of the fifth to tie it. They scored their three runs on eight hits.

Frostburg State opened the scoring with their first two batters of the game, going triple, double to take a 1-0 lead. A two-out double plated two more and the Bobcats led, 3-0, right away.

The Wildcats had runners on second and third with no outs in the third inning. Jack McDonald hit a one-out, two-run single to cut into the deficit, but that is all the Wildcats would get in the inning.

Jack McDonald came up with a two-out hit in the fifth, plating Garrett Quinn from third to tie the game, 3-3. But the Wildcats left two on in the inning, leaving the game knotted at 3-3.

The bullpen didn't allow a hit from the fourth inning until the 11th inning, only allowing two walks in the same span. Zack Czarnecki, Steven Mann, Shawn Edevane, Justin Barcoski, CJ Deery, Derek Huff, Anthony Giordano, Domy Grady and Brandon Grygo all threw scoreless outs with only Grygo going more than one inning on the mound.

The offense left a one-out single on first in the 11th while they left two on in the top of the 12th. The pitching left two Bobcats on base in the fourth, and had two hits in the 11th, but Grygo induced an inning-ending double play to get out of the jam.

The Bobcats started the bottom of the 13th with a single. A stolen base and a walk put two runners on with one out, but then Ryan Bouma sent a ball to right center, plating the game-winning run in walk-off fashion.

The Wildcats' Tyler Pirrung went 2-for-6 with a double while Jack McDonald went 2-for-6 with three RBI. Alec Roselli was saddled with the loss, falling to 0-3 on the year.

The Wildcats have a chance to forget the loss on Tuesday by returning to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday, starting a key three-game series with Jefferson. The Rams come to Wilson Field for a nine-inning game starting at 3:00 p.m.
