Baseball Splits First Doubleheader with Franklin Pierce
 
PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University baseball team (8-5) began their two doubleheader matchup with the Ravens. The Rams dropped their first matchup with Franklin Pierce University (5-6) 4-2 in game one. Jefferson rebounded, getting eight runs in the first two innings of game two while holding off a late Franklin Pierce surge to earn a 12-8 win.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
GAME TWO: W; 12-8

The Rams put up 5 runs in the first inning, starting with Gabe Silva nailing a homerun at the first at bate for Jefferson. Chris McLean, Jay Kaleita, Justin Egner, and Marquise Wood all got to the plate as they headed into the second inning up 5-0. Joshua Lopez double put two more runs on the board, with Wood nailing a single to center field to have it at 8-0.
 
The Ravens notched their first run in the fourth from a ground out with the bases loaded. The Rams added three more of their own runs. Egner hit a sacrifice fly for Kyle Kozlowski to get to homeplate, Joshu. Lopez single brought Kalieta home, and Alex Gonzalez sacrifice fly liner toward center field got Joshu. Lopez around the bases to make it 11-1.
 
Franklin Pierce begins to slowly comeback, getting five runs in the fifth to trail 11-6. McLean added another run from a wild pitch to get it back to six. The Ravens got two more runners to Homeplate with the match at 12-8 heading into the seventh. After the Ravens got two batters on base from consecutive walks, a hit towards third base allowed an unassisted out to conclude the day with a Rams win.

The Ravens scored the first run in the second inning. The Rams responded with one in the third off Al. Gonzalez triple. Franklin Pierce got right back ahead as a hit to center field got another run for the Ravens. A double to the left line and a wild pitch put two more runs for Franklin Pierce in the top of the fifth inning.
 
Joshu. Lopex got to Homeplate off Egner's sacrifice fly to make it 4-2. But three batters out in the bottom of the seventh concluded game one in favor of Franklin Pierce.
